GIMP

Is a free software similar to Photoshop. Whilst not having all the same tools that a graphics designer might use, it is a really useful free tool. Whether you are a graphic designer, photographer, illustrator, or scientist, GIMP provides you with sophisticated tools to get your job done. You can further enhance your productivity with GIMP thanks to many customisation options.

OBS

Is a free software similar to Loom, except it does more. It allows for screen capture, multiple source inputs like insert webcam, browser overlay, picture-in-picture and text titles.
If you use OBS on a Mac you may want a shadow highlight on your cursor. This one works for me $2

DAVINCI RESOLVE

This really powerful application is free to download, the free version has some restrictions, but if you are not a commercial editor, you won't notice them. It's brilliant and fun. In the onboard help menu there are tutorials.
